The grant resulted in setting a new record; for a combined total number of volunteer hours, an opportunity for several Rotary clubs and Rotaract clubs to join hands for a single event, and a record braking collection of home medical equipment.
worth of Rotary Club of Emory Druid Hills under its District 6900 Grant for ‘4 Quarterly Medical Equipment Drives for FODAC (Friends of Disabled Adults and Children) (to collect $ 1 million equipment)’ conducted the first quarterly medical equipment drive on August 6th. This was a joint venture with many other Rotary and Rotaract clubs from District 6900. Traditionally this medical equipment drive has been organized and led by the Rotary Club of North Atlanta. https://portal.clubrunner.ca/7505/Stories/a-very-successful-collection-event-for-fodac!
This drive resulted in numerous volunteer hours, and in-kind donations (63 Volunteers, 14 teams, 2 box trucks, 4 high roof Vans, 3 small vans, 5 pickups, and 5 trailers). The drive completed 44 Home Medical Equipment pickups for a total collection of $409,788 (a new record). The largest haul yet for this one-day collection event for the benefit of FODAC.
This grant aided in setting a new record in collecting home medical equipment donated to FODAC for refurbishment and reconditioning before being distributed back to those in need, most often at no cost to the recipient. Several motorized scooters, hospital beds, electric and manual wheelchairs, walkers, canes, and various medical supplies were among the items collected in all of the donated vans, trucks, and trailers.
The next quarterly medical equipment drives under the grant will be hosted by the Rotary Club of Emory Druid Hills in October 2022, January 2023, and April 2023.
We encourage and welcome as many Rotarians and Rotaractors of District 6900 to join hands and break our record!
